Okay, close your eyes and imagine this: a bicycle frame and fork painted Velocity Yellow on the front faded to Hot Pink on the rear with yellow on green decals. Ewww, right?
Let me be honest here folks. I'm not a big fan of fades. If you're a firefighter and we're talking about a haircut then yes, I am a fan, but as far as bicycle paint jobs go, usually I am a no-go when it comes to fades. But there are always exceptions and the paint job on this touring bike is one of them.
I remember this bike showing up in the welding department and seeing the paint job on the work order and thinking "Oh no, here we go... this is gonna hurt."
But in a way, it works.
It's kinda hot.
I realize that this is my opinion, and so should you, so take it for what it's worth....
And did I mention that this is a touring bike? I think I did.

I love the hot pink and I like the hot pink with the green/yellow decals on it. And I like the pink combined with that color yellow, but just not so much yellow. Or maybe it's the half and half way this bike looks and that the fade isn't working for me (though I do like lots some fades). It would've been a homerun if he/she had used the yellow in another way. But I like that he/she went for it. I wish I had the balls.
Klein paint.
If IF began life in the 80s instead of the 90s, this is the kind of fade they would have been doing instead of the purple/red fades. It just needs some black crackles in it like the 80s Treks. This thing is ugly in all the right ways. The owner should be proud of it!
Best comment quotes so far: "Ugly in all the right ways" and "I wish I had the balls"
Can't wait to get this in the shop and build it up!
Looks great! Doesn't break any rules in my book. Keep up the great blog.

This is a stealth frame for touring.
I love the yellow, the pink? Not so much. That is individual taste and not to be taken seriously by anyone else.
Nice frame, however. I really want one of these touring frames, one day.
needs some paint splatters...
Fat City Cycles just rolled in it's grave.
HA! You said Firefighter
did the owner ride for berks county (PA) cycling club racing in the early 90's?.....because I have an old skinsuit from that team that matches this bike perfectly
This is the hero of every bad taste party. But I love it ;o)
Looking forward to European Handmade Bicycle Exhibition in Germany.
